Behaviour Management Plan:
Staff at Seymour Special School see appropriate behaviour as an asset to our students. Consequently management of that behaviour is important. We use the You Can Do It program which encourages students to be Persistent, Organised, Confident and to Get Along with others. Students participate in the Tribes Program to develop self esteem.
Students are rewarded for appropriate behaviour with encouragement and rewards such as stickers, toys and choice of activity. If students have behaved appropriately all week they earn a star for the termly star chart.
Students who show inappropriate or unacceptable behaviour are given consequences such as time out, grounding, or missing a favourite activity. As we are a special school each child and situation is treated as an individual case taking into consideration the abilities of the child.
Students at the Annexe and the Seymour Technical High School must follow the code of conduct for that school or any variations set up by the teachers involved.
If students understand their actions they will be expected to comply with the behaviour management plan of action. This process is recorded on the behaviour chart situated in the staffroom.
All serious incidents are also recorded to establish any possible patterns.
